Why It's Not a Good Idea To Relocate Any California Bats You Find! Alternative Given!

The voracious appetite of the Oceanside bats and their ability to eat thousands of insects in one night is beneficial. However, once they choose your attic as their roosting place, you are probably thinking if it is wise to move them to another neighborhood. Unfortunately, trapping and relocating the bats is never recommended due to numerous reasons. In this article, we will discuss some of the reasons.

Why Relocating the Bats Will Not Solve Your Infestation

You are probably wondering why the California government is not endorsing the trapping and the relocation of bats. Under the law, exclusion would be the only way to get them out of our house without injuring them. The state also has a preferred method of excluding them. Be sure to consult the local DOH office or your wildlife department when removing them from your property.

Capturing is Unlawful

According to the law, you are not allowed to kill, harm, or capture the bats. In fact, even the exclusion of the bats is only allowed in specific months. You will not be allowed to evict them from their roosting ground during the nesting season and their hibernation. If you don't want to be embroiled in a huge legal mess, you may have to look for a better way to get rid of them.

There Is Absolutely No Point in Relocating Them

Bats have two different Oceanside roosting places; the place that they use during the summer and their place for hibernation. They will have to travel hundreds of miles to transfer from one roosting ground to another. They are territorial creature that will be prepared to return to your place. Driving miles and miles just to relocate them would be a waste of money, time, and effort.

Trapping will Not Work

As we mentioned above, you only have a small window if you plan to capture the California bat. This means that you only have a limited option and chance to get them out of your house. You have to use a method that has been proven effective to get rid of the bats. You don't want to experiment during this period. In order to trap them you need to consider the proper placement and use the right bait. If you lack the experience and expertise, the possibility of trapping them would be excessively low.

Better Alternative

Using exclusion device would be a better alternative to cage traps. They are manufactured using smooth materials to prevent the California bats from roosting to them. They are also intended to allow the bats to flap their wings freely. Some people also choose to allow them to stay in their property by offering them a separate bat house. This will allow them to live in harmony with the bats.

Compared to other wildlife Oceanside creatures where relocating them will help you deliver a long-term solution, this will not be effective against the bats. They have a territorial habit that enables them to return to their roosting ground no matter how far it may seem.
